Join our team
We are a small team with big ambitions. We are committed to supporting young creatives and helping them gain access to art learning and facilities.
We need new people to help drive this forward.
The Charity encourages new Trustees to join the board from the university, its Board of Governors and the local business community. Trusteeships are for nine years maximum (except in exceptional circumstances), with re-election every 3 years. There is no maximum number of Trustees.
Proud and purposeful
We are actively looking for new funding opportunities, applying for various art grants to support university students, projects and initiatives.
We’d need you to attend quarterly Board meetings (either in person in Plymouth or virtually) to help us listen to the ‘student voice’ and young people in the community.
Together, we are:
- Clear, open and not afraid to speak up
- Purposeful yet realistic about our time and what we can commit to
- Available, easy to contact, helpful and useful
Training
Trustees are provided with training to allow then to fulfil their roles effectively. As well as induction booklets, this training in the past has included seminars run by Chartered Accountants.

Spotlight on Trustee Louise Walsh

“It’s important to support the development of developing creative individuals as they have an important role to play in driving innovations in culture, society, health, economic growth and place-making.”
Louise is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (MCIOF) and has enjoyed working successfully in fundraising, business development and communications for 20 years. Louise currently works for the South Western Ambulance Charity supporting their dedicated staff and volunteers, and supporting work to improve cardiac arrest survival rates.
What experience does Louise bring to the Board?
Previously Louise has worked in the arts and cultural sector as the Fundraiser for The Box in Plymouth, and the community and environment sector as SW Regional Development Manager for Groundwork. She also works in the private sector through her work with a number of her family businesses involved in student and holiday accommodation, and housing development.
Why did Louise want to join?
Mother of two dancing daughters, Louise spends much of her free time as a ‘Dance Mum’ and is a frequent visitor to theatre, museums and live music.
The reason Louise became involved as a Trustee of the PCA Charitable Trust is because she says “It’s important to support the development of developing creative individuals as they have an important role to play in driving innovations in culture, society, health, economic growth and place-making.”
